I Fished in a T-Shirt!!

Fishing Reports

CJ Strike: Crappie fishing has been good...the narrows will be crowded! Small jigs tipped with some kind of scented offering has been working. If you're finding schools sitting fairly deep, try presentations that allow you to jig vertically. Trout fishing remains very good - trolling! Bass fishing has picked up but I wouldn't call it hot. Seeing some very decent sized fish and if the weather report doesn't change much for the week - bass are going to be on the move and biting. See if you can't get a reaction bite on a crankbait or chatterbait. Sturgeon fishing remains very good as well! Ardcore pickled smelt and other cut baits have caught fish that I know of.

Boise River: Running high. Going to be tough to fish for a bit.

Brownlee: Water levels are 2032.1 as of the time of this publication. Fishing has been very good for bass and catfish. Bass on crankbaits up against the banks and cats on cut bait. Crappie have been elusive.

Swan Falls - Above the Dam: Bass fishing has been great. Have heard some comments about the water clarity starting to muddy up a bit with some floating debris. This will be pretty common throughout the Snake River system right now as snow melts.

Swan Falls - Below the Dam: Sturgeon have been biting on cut bait and Ardcore pickled smelt. Lots of smaller sturgeon being caught below the dam. Not a bad idea to look a little further downstream for some big ones! Bass fishing remains really good here.

Wilson Springs: Fishing has been decent with dough baits and powerbait. Ultralight Heavyweights jigs are still producing!

Lake Lowell: Opens for boating on the 15th and there will be a bass tournament on the same day. Water level is up! Water temps aren't quite yet as the cold water from the canal is dumping in to the lake. Looks like this will be a warmer week than we have had in a bit - guessing those fish are going to be chomping! Look at something to get a reaction bite.

Owyhee River: No report but I love throwing streamers this time of year while I am waiting for the hatches to get rolling. Smaller jerkbaits and crappie jigs can catch big fish here this time of year.

Cascade Reservoir Perch/ICE: Check with the local tackle shops up north but what little I have heard is that they are catching and there is still ice.

Horsethief Reservoir/ICE: No report.

Duck valley/ICE: No report

Lucky Peak Reservoir: Fish are being caught but be prepared to put in your time. Water is a little off color and levels have been rising. Customer reported today that they were marking fish in many different water levels. BUT! They are being caught...

Arrowrock Reservoir: Fish are being caught but report is similar to Lucky Peak. See current water levels below.

Local Ponds: Bass are starting to bite and fish and game are stocking frequently!

Snake River - Catfishing: Seeing good fish caught! If you are new to the catfishing game, start by fishing by the many bridges that cross the snake. Cut bait has definitely been the bait of choice. Catch a couple pikeminnows or suckers on nightcrawlers and you are good to go!
