Fishing Reports
CJ Strike: Hearing about trout being caught in 10-20' for trollers. A few more smallmouth being caught in 40+ feet...mostly by fisherman trying to catch crappie. Crappie and perch fishing has been ok. Small Tungsten jigs tipped with bait have been working. Sounds like a little bit of ice in the narrows is possible depending on how cold the night was. Bunch of mid 40's temps this week and a few 50's for next week! Get ready...!
Boise River: Fishing has improved for sure! Crappie jigs and drift set ups have been effective. Try a little bit of roe and don't discount small cranks and jerkbaits. Seems like the smaller lures have been more effective.
Brownlee: No report.
Swan Falls - Above the Dam: Water temps haven't moved much in the past few weeks and it seems like the smallies are still a little reluctant to get after it. We have some fairly warm weather coming up...I'd keep my eyes on this place.
Swan Falls - Below the Dam: Bass fishing has picked up on the river but I wouldn't call it crazy just yet. Decent catfish and sturgeon reports. Cut bait for both!
Wilson Springs: Lots of trout being caught...powerbait, worms and HOOKUP BAITS has several that I know of now.
Owyhee River: Fishing a little tough. Still some large sections covered in ice. Midges still hatching in the slower sections. Give some small to medium sized jerkbaits a go and cover water...
Cascade Reservoir Perch/ICE: Ok reports coming out of Boulder Creek for those that are walking/pulling a sled. The reports I am receiving are saying that the morning to noon bite has been better and the most success is being had by those that can move and cover a lot of water on atv's and snowmobiles.
Horsethief Reservoir/ICE: Sounds like the road in is clear and fishing has been decent. Bait and wait with worm has been working. One customer reported a decent afternoon with worm tipped with kokanee corn.
Duck valley/ICE: Definitely worth the drive! Fishing remains very consistent. Get a few tip ups working along with a jigging rod or two. Powerbait!
Lucky Peak Reservoir: Ice is still an issue but clearing. There is open water available and a few kokanee are being caught near the surface. Get to where the sun has been shining the longest!
Arrowrock Reservoir: Still icy! Small section of open water. 65% full. Link for water levels:

Technically Speaking...
I've answered quite a few questions about what the Thermocline is and how understanding it can help fisherman. This video does a great job of explaining it in straight forward terms.

Catch Spotlight
Good to see a green fish!! On one of my favorite baits, the 6th Sense Flush 5.2. I guess Hells Canyon guide Cody Ard can catch more than just Steelhead and Sturgeon :)
