Hook Points - Idaho's Fishing Newsletter

It was sunny...and snowing...at the same time.

Fishing Reports

CJ Strike: Hearing ok reports for crappie but nothing amazing for bass just yet. Sturgeon have been biting! Trolling for trout still seems to be your best bet right now. Sounds like Black Sands is open but I haven't been able to confirm 100%!! If anyone knows - please contact me so I can let everyone know!

Boise River: Spinners, small jerkbaits, Utralight Heavyweights in just about every color and shrimp on a jig head have all been working!

Brownlee: Fish are starting to be caught. Tournament this weekend. Water levels are low! Woodhead is the ramp you want to launch from. Here is the link for water levels...

Swan Falls - Above the Dam: Decent report this week for bass. Feeding window was from 11-2 and sounds like 8 fish were caught - all about 1 to 2 pounds. Tube jigs and small drop shot worms were used.

Swan Falls - Below the Dam: Drag a tube for the smallies!

Wilson Springs: Still fishing really well. Couple days have been crowded but if you get out there early, you'll have easy access. Ultralight Heavyweights...just give them a try!!

Lake Lowell: Plenty of open water but I have not heard of anyone really getting on them just yet.

Owyhee River: No report.

Cascade Reservoir Perch/ICE: Mixed reports. Best option right now is to contact the local tackle shops in Cascade. Grab some bait, a hat and a few jigs from them while you're in their shops...you know, butter 'em up a bit before you ask for the hot spot ;)

Horsethief Reservoir/ICE: No report

Duck valley/ICE: Fishing has been consistently good here all winter. Plenty of ice and plenty of fish on powerbait.

Lucky Peak Reservoir: The recent snow has not helped things! Sounds like ramps are tricky but there is open water and a few fish being caught. For you die-hard koke addicts (see what I did there haha!) - be careful, go with a buddy and catch a couple!!

Arrowrock Reservoir: Still icy and that road...

Local Ponds: Starting to open up and we should be able to provide reports soon!

Snake River: Cats are being caught! Cut baits are always a top producer. Look for grass clearings, eddies and rock piles that are free of dead grass.
