Now we're talking...

Fishing Reports

CJ Strike: Warmer weather, warmer water and better fishing! Bass have been biting...give a crankbait, blade bait, NED rig or swim jig a try. Trout fishing is still really good! Ask the bass guys about catching trout on moving baits like cranks and jerks...Sturgeon fishing has been really good - crappie cut bait has been producing. Crappie are being caught - seems to be a bit of a slow bite still but smaller jigs tipped with a little bait have been working.

Boise River: Will need to keep eyes on the flows as the snow pack melts but as of right now, fishing is good. Ultralight Heavyweights are the hot bait on a weekly basis for river trout. Just absolutely killing it!

Brownlee: Water levels are rising. With that comes debris and lower visibility. Fish are biting! I have spoken to quite a few anglers that struggled a bit this weekend and the theme of those that weren't hooking up much is that they were fishing deep. Look a little shallower and give crankbaits, jerkbaits and 3.3 Keitechs a try on a 1/4oz ball head.

Swan Falls - Above the Dam: Decent smallmouth are being caught! Come in and I'll show you how to rig up Old Ugly to get you on a few!

Swan Falls - Below the Dam: Sturgeon has been good. Cut crappie has been working here as well. Bass fishing has been picking up. Water clarity is off so focus on shallower sections and throw baits that they can see. Give a swim jig or grub a try.

Wilson Springs: Fishing well! Getting a little busier as the weather warms. ULTRALIGHT HEAVYWEIGHTS!

Lake Lowell: Fishing is picking up! Black and Blue and Lake Lowell go together like Lamb and Tunafish (Any Adam Sandler fans out there?!)...chatterbait, swimjig, spinnerbait. Cover water and see what you end up with!

Owyhee River: Ice is gone - water is low. Fish are holding in the deeper sections...and so are the fisherman! So get there early and be prepared to fish fairly close to someone depending on the day you go. If you can gear up for it - go when it's raining...Rapalas have been working. Big streamers for the fly guys.

Cascade Reservoir Perch/ICE: Slush report is a day to day thing. Check ahead by calling the local shops in Cascade.

Horsethief Reservoir/ICE: No report

Duck valley/ICE: No report

Lucky Peak Reservoir: Open water! Kokanee bit has been a little slow but anglers giving it a good solid effort are catching.

Arrowrock Reservoir: Still icy BUT CLEARING!

Local Ponds: Bass are being caught as are trout. The IDFG stocking schedule is listed below - those looking for a few trout, give that a look before you go! Several pics were sent to me this week from anglers with bass on jerkbaits, NED rigs and one on a white Chatterbait.
