Fishing Reports
CJ Strike: Decent reports for high numbers of smallmouth in 10-20’, and larger but fewer fish around 30-35’. Ned rigs, drop shots and big skirted jigs have been working. Take a look at the 4-1/2” Fat Straight Tail Roboworm in Desert Craw on a drop shot. IT WILL GET BIT! Crappie fishing has been fair. Try a 2 or 3” Keitech Easy Shiner or a Bunker Baits 3” Curly Tail Shammer in Chartreuse. No report on Sturgeon this week.
Boise River: Fishing has been good! Spinners and small Jerkbaits and Crankbaits have been catching some high quality fish. Drifting roe and swinging Blue Fox #4 Spinners have been catching the salmon that have been stocked. Reports of caught salmon to the shop have slowed a bit but they are there!
Brownlee: Fishing has been great at Brownlee as far as numbers of 8-12” fish are concerned. Larger Bass have been a little trickier to come by. They are feeding on BUNCHES of crappie. Throwing anything that imitates those will get hit. Take a look at Hologram Shad Roboworms, 2.8 Keitechs in Electric Shad and Reins Kito Kito Shads. Catfishing remains excellent and fish are still shallow.
Swan Falls - Above the Dam: Fishing on the river remains easily the most predictable and productive. Good topwater bite in the morning and in the evening with Whopper Ploppers and poppers.
Swan Falls - Below the Dam: I have received several reports that the river is on FIRE - especially in the evenings! Kayakers and anyone willing to wade and move around a bit has a great chance run into some great fishing. The Reins Rockwave Shad is THE HOT BAIT!
Wilson Springs: Tough fishing due to weed cover. There is still clear water though and fish can be caught on nightcrawlers and small tube jigs.
Lake Lowell: Good reports this week as the topwater bite has picked up. Give your frog a try in the mornin evening, work the shade mid day with flipping baits. The Beast Flippin Delight has been SO GOOD!
Lake Cascade: Bass fishing remains fair. Look for gravel areas in 20-30’ and give a Ned a try. Trout and perch are being caught on the troll - reports are better in the early morning before the sun is fully up.
Owyhee River: Good hopper and streamer fishing. Some PMD’s early. Mid day - look for tail outs below faster moving water where there will be more oxygen and food.
Owyhee Reservoir: Decent reports from the Owyhee this week for smaller bass on Ned rigs and deep chatterbaits. Crappie fishing remains very consistent. Schools have been down around 25’ deep but shallower early in the morning and later in the evening.
Duck valley: Fishing remains good here. From the shore it’s been powerbait and crawlers and for the fly guys the good ol’ mohair leech on an intermediate sinking line is what I’d be using.
Lucky Peak Reservoir: Decent reports this week for Kokanee down around 35’. Look for that 51 to 54 degree water and vary your trolling patterns. Mix up your baits and dodgers regularly! You might notice a few are already turning red…
Arrowrock Reservoir: Same report as Lucky Peak. Careful on that road!! Hearing that it’s just plain crappy right now.
Anderson Ranch: If you are fishing here - I hope it’s for Kokanee! Bass fishing remains a mystery. Bass are being caught but not really the ones you want. Kokanee fishing remains steady for those putting in the time. Fish are down a little deeper than 30’ and are hitting pinks, oranges, black and purples.
Local Ponds: Bass fishing for those that can get off the shore has been really solid. Lots of decent fish caught. From the banks - the weeds and moss are really making it tough in a lot of places.
Snake River - Catfishing: Catfishing is really good right now! Find some clean water and you can bet there will be a cat nearby. Cut baits and chicken in kool aid have been the tickets.
