Fishing Reports

CJ Strike: Fishing is really getting good here. Crappie are biting on small jigs - tip them with something like a crappie nibble or small maggot. Trout are still being caught while trolling. Sent a customer out with a few Salmo crankbaits and they caught steadily all day trolling 60-80' behind the boat. Sturgeon have been biting cut baits. Give a spinnerbait and/or chatterbait a go for the largemouth and get those red crankbaits rolling for the smallmouth.

Boise River: Good fishing being reported with jerkbaits, crappie jigs and drifting eggs. Get in there while the water is still clear!

Brownlee: Water levels are rising. With that comes debris and lower visibility. Fish are biting! If you're struggling to find them, you may be fishing too deep. Get the crankbaits out and pound the banks.

Swan Falls - Above the Dam: Fishing has been good and getting better. Look shallow!

Swan Falls - Below the Dam: Sturgeon fishing has been steady. Cut baits! Smallmouth fishing has been decent as well from the bank. Try dragging a tube or throwing a shallow diving jerkbait/crankbait PARALLEL to the bank...

Wilson Springs: Steady! Ponds were stocked at the end of last week.

Lake Lowell: Some really nice days of fishing have been reported. I'd still be throwing spinnerbaits, swim jigs and chatterbaits.

Owyhee River: Steady fishing and an increase in crowds this week. Dynamic Lures jerkbaits have been working.

Cascade Reservoir Perch/ICE: Slush report is a day to day thing. Check ahead by calling the local shops in Cascade.

Horsethief Reservoir/ICE: No report

Duck valley/ICE: No report

Lucky Peak Reservoir: Open water and boats are launching. Fishing has picked up a bit. Reports have been that fish are shallow. Orange and Pink have been working as well as Chartreuse and Green.

Arrowrock Reservoir: Ice is coming off but haven't heard anything yet about the fishing.

Local Ponds: The ponds are warming up! Big trout being caught out of several of the local park ponds like Settlers. Good bass fishing in Emmett, Star and saw my first pic of a bass from Rotary.

New state record northern pike caught in North Idaho: 40.76 pounds! | Idaho Fish and Game

On March 21, 2023, Hayden Lake in North Idaho produced a new certified state record northern pike. The record fish weighed a whopping 40.76 pounds, was 49” in length and 26.5 inches in girth – a true monster of a fish!
