Fishing Reports
CJ Strike: Bass fishing has still been tough but they are being caught. Look for smallmouth in deeper water and for the largies in deeper areas adjacent to shallow stretches. Trout fishing remains really good. Trolling has been working. Try something like a Salmo or Flicker Shad. I did not hear much about crappie this week. The sturgeon bite above the dam has been solid.
Boise River: Remains a really steady producer for those willing to layer up a bit. Shrimp under a float, Ultralight Heavyweights jigs and small jerkbaits all caught fish this week that I know of.
Brownlee: Still cold...38 degree water. BUT...I did get reports of fish being caught there this last week on jerkbaits. Not going to say it's on but maybe a sign that we're getting there...
Swan Falls - Above the Dam: No report.
Swan Falls - Below the Dam: Drag a tube for the smallies!
Wilson Springs: ON FIRE! Grab your kiddo and a few of the Ultralight Heavyweights jigs. They have accounted for at least 100 fish this week and have only been in stock for a few days. These thing are so cool!
Lake Lowell: There are open sections but the wind can move the ice around. I have no reports of fish being caught this weekend. Doesn't mean they weren't...I'd probably slow roll a Keitech or throw a Jerkbait.....SSSSSLLLLLLOOOOOWWWWLLLYYY :)
Owyhee River: Fair amount of ice on the river but reports from the Idaho Rod and Reel fly fishing ambassadors have been decent. Small zebra midges and nymphs caught fish this week.
Cascade Reservoir Perch/ICE: A customer showed me a picture of a perch that looked bigger than the smallmouth I catch! Insane those perch. Jigging lures tipped with little chunks of red wax worms has been producing most of the season.
Horsethief Reservoir/ICE: No report
Duck valley/ICE: Fishing has been consistently good here all winter. Plenty of ice and plenty of fish on powerbait.
Lucky Peak Reservoir: There is some open water, especially closer to the dam. I'm not getting reports of limits being caught but definitely seeing and hearing about a few kokanee! Darker colors have been working in the morning and then Orange seems to be working once the sun has been up a bit.
Arrowrock Reservoir: Still icy.
